This is a brass model of a work that was realized in 1986—standing 20 meters tall—commissioned by the Bouwfonds in Hoevelaken. See: https://www.ateliervolten.nl/amstelveenseweg.
At the time, an unspecified number of small stainless steel models (34 cm) were also produced, commissioned by the Bouwfonds in Hoevelaken. Furthermore, there are known brass versions—sold by Volten himself—measuring approximately 100 cm, 140 cm, and 204 cm in height. As far as is known, these were produced in editions of 2 or 3.The steel prototype for these, measuring 89 cm in height, is preserved at Atelier Volten.
